I worked full-time for UK-based Starling Bank as a Software Engineer.
It's a fantastic company to work for, with many talented engineers - working in a flat hierarchy across different disciplines. This level of quality and attention to detail keeps standards high, and as a result millions of customers have been drawn to Starling over the last few years.
Some of my duties at Starling included:
- Building, testing and maintaining JavaScript and Typescript-based websites and applications; including the main marketing website and the online bank.
- Working with AWS Infrastructure
- Building a React-based design system, including research into JS frameworks, CSS-in-JS solutions, API-based and git-based CMSes
- Github code reviews and pair programming
